Last season's signings of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko weren't up to standard, according to Opoku Nti

Legend of Asante Kotoko Opoku Nti feels Hearts of Oak's and his former team's additions from the previous season weren't up to par.

He maintained that if the two teams were to adhere to their criteria, they would need to sign players who could draw large crowds to the stadium.

Asante Kotoko finished sixth in the standings, 12 points behind champions FC Samartex, while Hearts of Oak avoided relegation on the last day of the season with a thrilling victory over Bechem United.

Opoku Nti continues, saying that Hearts and Kotoko have improved this season by bringing in more seasoned players.

"You see, we always look for the older and experienced players, those who are willing to battle, because that's how great teams operate," he said to Joy Sports.

"Every team has its own ideology and standards, and if you observe Kotoko and Hearts of Oak last season, their additions were below par.

"You should bring players whose names will entice fans to the stadium if the team draws a large attendance. And between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, that was different from the previous year.

"So far this season, they've done a great job of attempting to bring in guys of caliber,"
