Frimpong Manso says the pressure at Asante Kotoko is too great for Division One and Two players to manage.

Legendary Asante Kotoko player Frimpong Manso has voiced worries about the strain lower-level players are under.

The Porcupine Warriors had a difficult season the year before, placing sixth in the Ghana Premier League and 12 points behind winners Samartex.

Manso highlighted the intense pressure at Kotoko, saying that the atmosphere did not foster the growth of the new players.

He saw that the new Division Two and Division One players were overwhelmed by the club's expectations to win every game.

Asante Kotoko has signed eleven new players and discarded over 20 in reaction to the disappointing season.

"Kotoko always wants to win, you know. They had a new crop of players last season, mostly from Division 2, some from Division 1," he said to Joy Sports.

"Coaching Kotoko is under a lot of strain, and there are a few other clubs as well." It was evident that the lads were having trouble playing because they eventually could not take the pressure.

"And then, I believe, the older ones also had problems with Prosper. At the end of the season, he got rid of a number of them, and I believe he also publicly acknowledged that they were politicians.

Thus, the circumstances were just unfavorable for a team to win... They wish to start again right now.

In preparation for an away game against Karela United in early September, the team has started preseason training.
