Players from Asante Kotoko will get GHC2,000 for winning the Democracy Cup.

Democracy Cup

Asante Kotoko's prize for winning the first Democracy Cup is two thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 2,000). Akoma FM, situated in Kumasi, broke this almost a day after the match.

With three straight wins this year over Hearts of Oak, the Porcupine Warriors maintained their domination with a 2-1 triumph at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After 30 minutes, Justice Blay gave Kotoko the lead by scoring from a penalty kick after the Kumasi-based team was given an advantage.

After the break, Hearts of Oak struck back, with Asamoah Boateng tying the score for Aboubakar Ouattara's side, giving their supporters hope for a comeback.

But in the closing minutes of the match, Amidu gave Kotoko their lead back, ensuring a 2-1 triumph.

Kotoko held on to win their third game against the Phobians in the 2023–24 season, despite a late surge from Hearts.

They won the Democracy Cup as well as a spot in a friendly against DC United later this year thanks to this victory.
