Michael Awuah Mensah, a recent addition to Hearts of Oak, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the team after they lost to sworn rivals Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup.

Mensah, who recently joined the Phobians, was on the field last week when his team lost the inaugural Cup tournament against Asante Kotoko 2-1. Ghana celebrated 30 years of parliamentary democracy with the game.

The Phobians have now lost to the Porcupine Warriors three times in a row, most recently at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The former Nations FC marksman revealed in an interview that his team wanted to win the trophy to please the supporters after a poor showing in the previous campaign that saw them place 14th in the Ghana Premier League.

Our defeat against Kotoko in the Democracy Cup left us feeling wounded. After a dismal season, we wanted to raise the trophy in front of each of our supporters.

In the meantime, the defender's goal for the forthcoming season is to win the Ghana Premier League.

"I shall implore the supporters to maintain faith in the squad. The supporters ought to be patient. The club's leadership is working nonstop to improve things.

And if Hearts of Oak wins the league, nobody should be shocked. We are capable of winning the league. It won't be a big deal if we win the league because Hearts of Oak is a big club, he remarked.

The defender recently sealed a transfer from Nations FC to Hearts of Oak after putting on a strong showing the previous season.

He signed a three-year contract with the Accra-based squad, and by the next season, he should be a major contributor.
