Before joining Hearts of Oak, Michael Awuah Mensah reveals initial interest from Asante Kotoko

At the end of the 2023–24 season, Michael Awuah Mensah, the new defender for Accra Hearts of Oak, revealed that Asante Kotoko was the first team to show interest in signing him.

The former Nations FC player disclosed that Hearts of Oak eventually joined the competition to sign him, successfully obtaining his services.

In the off-season Democracy Cup encounter against bitter rivals Asante Kotoko, Mensah made his Hearts of Oak debut. The Phobians lost 2-1. Mensah should help Hearts of Oak's defense as the 2024–2025 season draws near.

Mensah expressed his thoughts about drawing interest from well-known teams in an interview with Peace FM. "You will know that it is because of your performance that at the end of the season, a club like Kotoko Hearts is interested in you as a player," he stated.

He said, "Kotoko approached me initially, but Hearts of Oak was pushing more than Kotoko."

With Mensah joining the Hearts of Oak team, the defense line should see an increase in toughness and competition.
