Kingsley Osei Bonsu, a member of the executive council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has said that he has changed his mind about Division One League Zone 1 after experiencing violence firsthand.

At first, Bonsu was against the split, but after seeing severe acts of violence and bloodshed, he changed his mind.

Hooliganism has been a problem for Zone 1 in recent seasons; players, match officials, referees, and technical staff have all been victims of these violent incidents. Speaking on Friday, August 9, at the GFA's Meet the Press event in Sunyani, Bonsu described his shift in perspective.

Because of several violent incidents, I opposed the plan to separate Zone 1 during the Kwasi Nyantakyi regime. However, upon witnessing actual blood, I made a commitment to guarantee the division of Zone 1," Kingsley Osei Bonsu said.

The news conference, which took place at the Eusbett Hotel, provided information about the league's current situation as well as the steps being taken to reduce violence. These events have resulted in the division of Division One League Zone 1 into Zone 1A and Zone 1B.
