Kelvin Osei Asibey, a defender for Hearts of Oak, has stated he is prepared to fight for a starting position in the next season.

After a dismal season last year, the Phobians are currently looking to add quality players to their squad in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

After the 2023–24 season, the Ghanaian powerhouses came in 14th place in the Ghana Premier League rankings, with Samartex being victorious.

To find out their status in the Ghanaian top division, the Rainbow Boys had to wait until the very end.

Hearts of Oak, which includes Asibey, has four capable center backs on the team. Coach Abubakar Ouattara has options from returnee Konadu Yiadom, rookie Michael Awuah Mensah, and captain Kofi Agbesimah.

The former Eleven Wonders defender confirmed he is unaffected by the entry of new players as he opens for competition at the club in an interview with Kessben FM, which Footballghana.com was watching.

Participants will arrive and go. Both newcomers and veteran players are present. There is no doubt that the competition will be fierce. How well you do in training will determine if you get a starting position at the club. I just need to give it my all to win the coach over, even though selection will be extremely difficult," he remarked.

On Wednesday night, Hearts of Oak will play Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup
