I have not got any negative comments after officiating the Hearts-Kotoko game. - Referee Juliet Appiah

Referee Juliet Appiah

FIFA referee Juliet Appiah reports that she has not heard any negative remarks regarding her performance at Hearts of Oak vs. Asante Kotoko's Democracy Cup match.

As Kotoko easily defeated the Phobians to win the title, some fans expressed displeasure with the referee's performance.

However, Appiah expressed happiness over her performance in an interview with Kessben FM, which Footballghana.com saw, and said that Hearts of Oak executives even praised her for such a stellar performance.

"The losing football team always has complaints after a game. But Hearts of Oak officials praised me for my superb officiating after the game. Since officiating the game, I have not gotten any negative feedback. Everyone who called praised me for managing such a big game. You should not play Hearts of Oak or Kotoko at night, therefore the fact that I managed the game without any major incidents suggests that I performed well, she remarked.

On July 17, 2024, in the Accra Sports Stadium, the Porcupine Warriors defeated the opposition 2-1 to win the first Democracy Cup. Ghana celebrated 30 years of parliamentary democracy with the game.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated the Phobians for the third time in a row with two goals from Justice Blay and Peter Amidu.

After Kotoko's victory in the first Democracy, the organizers have scheduled a trip for the team to play Major League Soccer team DC United in the United States at a later date.
