Following the team's 1-0 home loss to newly promoted Basake Holy Stars in their 2024–25 Ghana Premier League opener, Hearts of Oak Public Relations Officer Kwame Opare Addo has expressed dissatisfaction.

Fans were so dissatisfied with the game, which took place on Sunday, September 9, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, that they booed the players and coaching staff after the final whistle.

Opare Addo expressed the team's wish for a successful start to the season in an interview with Asempa FM, saying, "We won't argue that because we didn't win the first match it doesn't matter; if we had gotten the win, we would have appreciated it." It hurts.

With the words, "We have to leave that behind and focus on what is to come going ahead so that the remaining games go well for us," he emphasized the need for the team to move past this loss and concentrate on upcoming matches.

Fans are worried about the loss, particularly in light of the club's difficulties the previous season, when they only missed relegation.

Opare Addo reaffirmed the team's resolve to steer clear of the difficulties from the previous campaign, saying, "We don't want what happened to us last season to happen again. Although a flawless beginning would have been ideal, it didn't occur. We weren't all expecting that."

However, that will provide us with some valuable lessons for the competition. We need to be stronger, more determined, and competitive than we were in the first game moving ahead."

Hearts of Oak will concentrate on regrouping and enhancing performance to win back the confidence and support of their fervent fan base as they get ready for their next games.
