Karolina Muchova responds to Chris Evert's controversial comment

Though she wasn't sure how to react to Chris Evert's controversial comment, Karolina Muchova made it clear that she doesn't think she plays like a man.

The Czech tennis player defeated Naomi Osaka 6-3 7-6 (5) on Thursday, and one of the secrets to her impressive victory was her superb serving and volleying.

Nick Kyrgios praised the 2023 French Open finalist's volleying abilities shortly after the match, then inquired as to whether her idol Roger Federer had any influence on her exceptional development of that aspect of the game.

Muchova said in her response to the inquiry that she admired the legendary Swiss tennis player and a few other male players.

"She performs like a male. She desires to act more like a man. Evert says, "The boys move a little bit better, have bigger serves than the ladies, and generally have better volleys."

After receiving considerable backlash, Muchova has now addressed it.

Ons Jabeur criticized the former 18-time Grand Slam champion after the American tennis star made the remark about the Czech, saying on X, "Can we simply stop stereotyping based on gender?"

The 68-year-old American apologized to the Tunisian and explained that perhaps there was another way for her to express herself.

Additionally, Muchova defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday before talking about the Evert predicament.

In my opinion, I don't play like a man. I am at a loss for words on that one. I'm not sure what exactly Evert said, but it's apparent that guys like Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have inspired me and that I like to emulate their style of play. Nevertheless, I wasn't ready to respond to this query," the former seventh-ranked player stated.

Muchova will next face Jasmine Paolini, the runner-up in both Wimbledon and the French Open this year.
